Origin South America.
Very popular aquarium with the fish keeper, now can be found in many colour strains including Black Marble Zebra and Gold. These fish are hardy and will live a long time.
They are generally a peaceful fish but when they become large they will attack and eat smaller fish.They will breed in the community aquarium but better success will be had if you breed them seperatly in there own tanks.
